Obituary of Siegmund H. de Haas

Siegmund H. de Haas of Union Twp., NJ died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. Mr. de Haas was born October 23, 1931 in Bremen, Germany, the son of the late Arthur and the late Freida (Neumann) de Haas. He was a Korean War Veteran and served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Siegmund graduated the Phoenix School of Design and the School of Visual Art, both in NYC, NY. Siegmund was a Designer Draftsman for Boren, Bogart & VanCleef in Flemington, NJ before retiring. He was a longtime resident of Union Twp., NJ (Hunterdon County).Mr. de Haas was a collector of antiquarian books and had a special interest in German Expressionists art. He enjoyed Art Museums, reading and architecture. He was a Parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Califon, NJ. He is survived by his beloved Wife, Joan de Haas, his Daughter, Valerie Margaret de Haas & her Husband, Jay Pomerantz of Redwood City, Calf., his Son, Mark de Haas of Chesterfield, NJ and his Brother, Herbert de Haas of Washington State.Visiting Hours will be on Wednesday, January 7th from 4:00 to 7:30 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 8th at 10:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Route 513, Califon, NJ 07830 - #908-832-2513. Interment with Military Honors will take place at the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ - #609-758-7250.
