Obituary of Jean Thomas Donato

Jean Thomas Donato, age 76 of Union Twp., NJ died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. Mr. Donato was born November 15, 1932 in Plainfield, NJ the son of the late Jean and the late Lottie (nee Lutz) Donato. He was a Plumber by trade and was employed by Georges Plumbing & Heating in Clinton, NJ and more recently he was employed by the State of New Jersey at the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Clinton Twp., NJ where he retired after working many years. Mr. Donato was a longtime member of the Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Department and he also served as past Treasurer. Jean enjoyed bowling and at one time bowled in the Immaculate Conception Church of Clinton Bowling League. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and golfing. Jean was a longtime member and past President of the Senior Citizen Group of Union Township. He is survived by his beloved Wife of 50 years: Marion Donato (nee Schmitzer), his devoted Daughters; Brenda Buxbaum & Cheryl Arnold - both of Union Township, NJ and his Son, Brian Donato of North Carolina. Additional survivors include his Sister, Ann Cooper of Kingwood Twp., NJ and his cherished Grandchildren: Julie, Rachel, Joseph, Nathan, Michaela and Daniel The Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday, March 10th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm with a Fireman's Prayer Service offered at 7:30 pm at the Martin Funeral Home. There will be a Catholic Blessing on Wednesday morning, March 11th at 10:00 am also at the Funeral Home. The Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
