Obituary of John A. McGrory

John A. McGrory, age 79 of Lebanon Twp., NJ died Monday, April 6, 2009 at home. Mr. McGrory was born September 22, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late John Aloysius and the late Mary Anne (Quinn) McGrory.He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 - 1954. and resided in Lebanon Twp., NJ since 1969. Mr. McGrory was an Electrical Engineer employed by RCA (later General Electric) for more than 40 years. He graduated St. John's Prep in Brooklyn, NY and Fairleigh Dickenson University in Madison, NJ. John was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC). He operated his own business repairing and restoring antique clocks, was an avid New York baseball and football fan, played softball for several teams, and enjoyed spending time with his family. His is survived by his beloved Wife of 57 years.: Anne Marie McGrory (nee Hope), his Daughters: Mary Anne Gordon & her Husband, Al of Hackettstown, NJ., Peggy McGrory of Ventura, Ca., Susan Jean Taylor & her Husband, Harvey of Ventura, Ca., Monica Jane McGrath & her Husband Jack of Ventura, Ca., his Sons; John E. McGrory of North Branch, NJ, & Thomas Patrick McGrory & his Wife, Karyn Poncin-McGrory of Washington, NJ and his cherished Grandchildren: Ryan Taylor, Emilie Anne McGrory & Cynthia Hope, along with nieces and nephews located throughout the country. He was pre-deceased by his Sisters; Catherine McGowan and Mary Jane Larrain.There will be a Memorial Service or "Celebration of His Life" on Saturday, May 23rd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Beaver Brook Country Club, 25 Country Club Dr., Annandale, NJ, #908-735-4200 to include lunch with his friends and family.
