Obituary of Thomas J. Vitale

Thomas J. Vitale, age 76, of Washington Twp., NJ (Warren County) died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway in Rahway, NJ. Mr. Vitale was born March 13, 1933 in North Bergen, NJ the son of the late Charles and the late Josephine (nee DeStafano) Vitale. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1952 to1956. Mr. Vitale was a Business Owner and owned T. Vitale & Sons Trucking Company in Washington Twp., NJ for many years. He resided in Washington Twp., NJ for the past 24 years and previous to that, he lived in the Flanders Section of Mt. Olive Twp., NJ. Thomas was an active member of St. Ann's Church in Hampton and he was also a longtime member of the Sons of Italy. Mr. Vitale enjoyed feeding the birds and he was very meticulous about his lawn care. He was a great mechanic and able to fix most anything. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. Survivors include: his Daughter, Joyce Weinrich & Her Husband, James of Branchville, NJ, his Sons, Thomas Vitale & his Wife, Diane of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Charlton Vitale & his Wife, Audrey of Hampton, NJ and Steven Vitale & his Wife, Jill of Jackson, NJ. Additional survivors include, his 9 Cherished Grandchildren and his Sisters: Constance Parke of East Brunswick, NJ & Jacqueline Scalzo of Port St. Lucie, Fla. He was predeceased by his beloved Wife: Mary Joyce on October 1, 2008, his Son, Paul in 1988 and his Sister: Sara Morella in 2001. Visiting Hours will be on Sunday, May 3rd from 2:00 to 4:00 pm & from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Mass on Monday, May 4th at 10:00 at St. Ann's RC Church, 30 Church Street, Hampton, NJ 08827 - (908)-537-2221. The Funeral Home will open at 9:00 am on Monday morning for those wishing to follow in the procession to church. The Interment with full Military Honors will take place at St. Ann's Cemetery on the Church grounds immediately following the Mass.
