Obituary of Carl Thomas Heitzman
Carl Thomas Heitzman, age 88, of Union Twp., NJ (Hunterdon County) died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at home. Mr. Heitzman was born January 4, 1921 in Phillipsburg, NJ the son of the late Thomas and the late Rheta (nee Creveling) Heitzman.He graduated Phillipsburg HS in 1938. Mr. Heitzman was a World War II Veteran and served in the United States Army in the 78th "Lightning" Infantry Division from 1943 to 1946. Carl worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad from 1945 until retirement . He resided in Union Twp., NJ since 1950, and previously lived in Kenmore, NY; Sayre, PA and Jersey City, NJ. He was a member of the VFW, the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, the American Legion, the Civil Air Patrol, the YMCA and the Indian Guides. He enjoyed Golf, was an avid Fisherman and was active in Community Service.He is survived by his Daughter, Wendy Heitzman & her Husband, Bob McDevitt of Lake Worth, Fla., his Sons, Thomas Heitzman & his Wife, Nancy of Eaton, NY & Robert Heitzman of San Luis Obispo, CA. Additional survivors include: his Sister, Carolyn McMullen of Tampa, Fla., his cherished Grandchildren, Eric & Adam Heitzman & Grace Heitzman, and his Companion, Georgia Bartok. He was pre-deceased by his Wife 54 years, Marion in 1996 and his Sister, Cora Blatterspiel. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be conducted on Sunday, July 12th at 2:00 pm at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2 Race Street, Pittstown, NJ 08867 - #908-735-5733 or www.bethlehempresbyterian.org with a reception to follow also at the Church.
