Obituary of Marie Elizabeth Gonet

Marie Elizabeth (Beth) Gonet, 97, passed away on May 24th at Hunterdon Medical Center, after a short illness. She lived her entire life in Queens and in New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York until 2006, when Beth and her husband Henry moved to Independence Manor, in Flemington, NJ. Beth was predeceased by her husband, Henry J. in 2007. She is survived by her beloved children, daughter Diane Gonet Strauss and her husband Walter, of Clinton Township, NJ and son Frederick J. Gonet and wife Betty of Proctorsville, VT. In addition, her survivors include her 6 grandchildren; Gary R. Strauss and wife Debra of Mesa, AZ (Mayor) Scott P. Strauss and wife Patricia of Mineola, NY, Susan B. Strauss Wyatt of Phoenix, AZ, Marc H. Strauss and wife Kelly of Lebanon, NJ, Donnal Gonet of SC and Neki Gonet of Proctorsville, VT. She also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren; Matthew J. Strauss and wife Diana of Mesa, AZ, Lindsay Strauss Backus and husband, Ryan also of Mesa, AZ, Bryan and Christopher Strauss of Mineola, NY, Thomas A. Schlagenhaft of Phoenix, AZ, Tiffany A. and Jason R. Strauss of Lebanon, NJ and Koa Gonet of Proctorsville, VT also 2 precious great, great grandsons, Aidan and Landan Backus of Mesa, AZ. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7th at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral Home, Clinton, NJ. Interment will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society or the Animal Shelter or Rescue of your choice.
