Obituary of Helen Hazel Sloss

Helen Hazel Sloss, age 83, of East Amwell Twp., NJ passed away Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospice, Bethlehem, PA. Mrs. Sloss was born February 21, 1927 in Pattenburg, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Earl and the late Frances (Gooley) Emery. Helen attended Clinton High School and lived in Pattenburg until 2004. She married Robert T. Sloss Jr. on August 2, 1952. Her husband, a retired NJ State police captain, passed away April 13, 1990. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Spruce Run Recreation Area ( NJ Department of Parks and Recreation) retiring in 1992. She also worked at Hunterdon National Bank in Union Twp. for many years. She was belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution; she was a member of the Pattenburg United Methodist Church and the Pattenburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading, bingo an auto racing, where she faithfully attended Saturday night racing at Flemington Speedway. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Van Horn and son-in-law Raymond of Ringoes, NJ and her son: Robert T. Sloss III of Keansburg , NJ; her grandchildren, Ian, Brad and Holly Sloss of Stamford, CT; and Devin Sloss of New York, NY; her brother, Jerry Emery of Lebanon, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Sloss and her brother, Lester Emery. There will be a Memorial Service held on Saturday August 14th at 1:00 PM at the Linvale United Methodist Church, State Hwy 31 N & Linvale Rd., Ringoes, NJ 08551. Tel.
