Hello Mr&Mrs Wahl:
My deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your family on your loss.
It is sad and painful to loose your loving son at such an early age. This sadness and pain never truly goes away, it just gets smaller and condensed, tucked away in a corner somewhere in the deep recesses of the heart.
My Prayers are with you, and May God grant you the strength and courage, in this difficult time.
Regards,

Debbie Mitchell posted a condolence
We've been telling a story for 22 years in our family as proof of what a "great" mother I am and how well I deal with a "little crisis" or not. But in some small way Steven Wall has become infamous in our family's history and now that history has an unfathomable twist. I'm sure the story will be shared again, but knowing that Steven is no longer a vibrant healthy soul on this earth will add more meaning. I hope he gets a little chuckle out of one of my most memorable life's experiences.
So the story goes: I am a stay at home mom of three small children and past neighbor and friend of the Walls. So for some reason I can't remember, Karen has asked me to watch Steven while she's at work...no problem, right?!?! So I'm on the phone one day with a girlfriend and little Steven is crawling around on the kitchen floor with our golden retriever, Maggie. The next thing I know Steven is crying and bleeding. My girlfriend on the phone knows my issues (Can't deal at all with the sight of blood) and prompts me on what to do...get the kids, get in the station wagon and she'll meet me at the pediatrician 15 mins from our house. Okay...no problem. I grab the two car seats for Steven and Betsy and put James in between and off we go. Take count here of how many children make the road trip to the doctor. The nurse meets us at the door and takes Steven into an examination room to check out his bite wound. My girlfriend arrives to take my kids so I can deal with just Steven and asks "Where is John?" That would be the three year old that I left at home napping alone. Oops. No mother of the year award. The girlfriend speeds off to rescue the abandoned child and the nurse and doctor assure me that the scar near Steven's eye will not be too bad!?!? I am sure the Walls found another child care provider the next day, but have remained friends throughout the years. Our hearts go out to all of the Walls. Fondly, The Mitchells

Brendan & Karen, this is such a sad time for not only your family, but for all of us in the North Hunterdon Community. I can still remember Steve's small little frame running on the soccer field. He played so hard and was a great pleasure to not only coach, but to watch grow up and play lacrosse with my son at North. It's painful for me knowing that this kind of tragedy lurks amongst all of us as parents, and for our children who have lost a friend, a team mate, a stark reminder of why it's hard to let go and let our childen become adults. Peace. Tom, Joanne, Jessica, Tom Jr., and Kate

Steven was always the student that a teacher hopes they can have in their classroom. He was a hard worker who would share his love of learning with others in the class. I just found out recently that he took that helpfulness outside of the classroom and has helped many others struggling with other things in life other than academics. I will miss you "Wallsy" but I know you will always be watching over your family and friends and all those lives you have touched.
