Obituary of Myron Moore Hoffman

Myron Moore Hoffman, age 82, died on June 1st at his home in Whitehouse Station, NJ. He was the son of the late Raymond and the late Ethel (Moore) Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman was born on August 8, 1930. He was born on, raised and lived most of his life on the family farm in Fairmount NJ. Myron was a dairy farmer from the time he could reach the udder until 1992. During this time he maintained a herd of his favorite breed of cows, Holsteins. He also raised Herefords and occasionally Black Angus. He preferred these two breeds most of all for his dinner plate, especially the Angus that would often be visiting the neighbors properties eliciting a call from the chief of police to have them rounded up. All other breeds, for any purpose, were only to be tolerated. After retiring from the dairy, Myron and his wife moved from Fairmount to his farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for an easier life, just a small 200 acre tract that he planted in grain. It was much easier... "You don't have to feed and milk it twice a day". They maintained this lifestyle until 2004, then moving back to New Jersey to retire. Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Navy, making the rating of Airman in 1953 and continued his service in the Navel Reserve until 1963. He also was a private and commercial pilot and enjoyed the second love of his life, flying and maintaining his Cessna 180. He was a lifetime member and trustee of the Fairmount United Methodist Church. Myron is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Bessie (Murphy) Hoffman; his son, Randy Hoffman and his wife, Ruth of Flemington, NJ; his daughters, Lori Horvath and her husband, Dean of Bridgewater, NJ; and Julie Garfein of Alpha, NJ. Additional survivors include his cherished grandsons, Jacob and Brandon; his sister, Evelyn Powel of Califon,NJ and his brother Raymond Hoffman of Belvidere, NJ.
