Obituary of Mary M. Bloemeke

Mary Bloemeke, nee Martina, passed away November 6, 2010 at Morris View Health Care Center in Morris Plains, NJ. Born July 11, 1910 in Deutsch-Feistritz, near Graz, Austria, Mary, her mother and sisters Anna and Betty, came through Ellis Island in 1913 to join her father and other members of the Martina family who had settled in NJ. A licensed practical nurse, Mary worked for many years at the Edna Mahan Correctional Center and Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton, NJ. She also served as secretary for Hunterdon Council #15 of the NJ Civil Service Association for 14 years. She was a 50+ year member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Grandin, NJ, where she was one of the first women to serve as a deacon. She also taught Sunday School, was active in the annual church bazaar and directed the popular children's plays. Mary was also an enthusiastic member of the Clinton Women's Club and Clinton Senior Citizens. Mary was predeceased by her first husband Paul Feederle and her second husband Albert Bloemeke. She is survived by her daughters Loretta Keggan of Randolph, NJ; Lynn Foltz and husband John of Wilmington, DE; granddaughter Becki Collins and husband Gary of Escondido, CA; great-grandson Addison Collins; nieces Beverly York of Summit, NJ; Gladys Hoffler of Hackettstown, NJ; Nancy Fostle of Wyalusing, PA, and many great-nieces and -nephews. She was feted at a 100th birthday party on July 11 with many friends and relatives in attendance. The family thanks the personnel at Morris View Health Care Center for their care and affection for Mary and the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care for their care and concern. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Grandin, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2 Race St., Pittstown, NJ 08867-4220.
