Obituary of Agnes P McGuire

Agnes Patricia (nee Hanlon) McGuire, age 97, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 17, 2022, at The Chelsea of Brookfield located in Belvidere, NJ. Born April 14, 1924, in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter to the late Patrick Hanlon and the late Ada (nee Moyer) Hanlon.

Agnes was a 1942 graduate of Allentown Catholic High School. On May 8, 1946, Agnes married her beloved husband, John Paul McGuire and moved to NJ. They settled in Rahway and together they raised three daughters; Kathleen, Marie, and Patricia whom they adored.  Agnes worked at RC Industry located in Linden, NJ until her retirement in 1986.  She moved back to the Lehigh Valley area of PA and became involved in the community by being a member of the Notre Dame Church of Bethlehem from 1986-2018. She also was a member of the PSWBA women’s bowling league from 1986-until the early 2000s, as well as Senior Citizen/ Buchanan Park Housing Corp (BPHC) from 1986-2018. 

Born with a legacy to bake (her mother had previously owned her own bakery), Agnes enjoyed baking for her family and friends.  Agnes stayed active with bowling and her love of dancing.  She had a love for animals, especially dogs.  But most of all Agnes loved her family and friends whole heartedly and took great pleasure and enjoyment spending time with them. She was a devoted wife mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Agnes will be forever missed by her daughters, Kathleen Collins and  her husband John, Marie Ginda and her husband George, Patricia Mizak and her husband Gregory; grandchildren, Michael Chicarelli, Dawn (nee Chicarelli) Anderson, Robert Ginda, Michele (nee Ginda) Gargiulo, Sara (nee Mizak) Ramos, Courtney (nee Mizak) D’Avella and Joanna Mizak; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Agnes is predeceased by her husband John McGuire, to whom she was married for 30 years siblings, Beatrice Roth and her husband Edwin, Catherine "Kip" Long, Frances "Hank" Hanlon and his wife Anna, Sara Seacord, Loretta McNelis and her husband Harry, and granddaughter, Lisa (nee Chicarelli) Dalessandro.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 18th at 11:00 am at Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church, 1861 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, PA 18018. The family will greet friends one hour prior to mass (10:00 am until 11:00 am) at the church. Inurnment will follow mass at the Holy Savior Cemetery, 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA. Agnes' family would like to thank the nurses , aides and staff at The Chelsea of Brookfield who became like family to the McGuire family over the past 4 years and also the Ennoble Hospice Care staff.

Agnes
