Obituary of Walter F Laufhutte

Walter F. Laufhutte, age 94, of Hunterdon County, NJ, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Rolling Hills Care Center located in Lebanon, NJ.  Born January 6, 1928, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter Laufhutte Sr. and the late Anna (nee Gross) Laufhutte.

Walter served in the National Guard for ten years as a Sergeant First Class. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and worked as an Insurance Underwriter for Allstate Insurance until retirement, and then as a Walmart greeter located in Mansfield, PA.  He married the love of his life, Alice (nee Coffey) Laufhutte, on November 18, 1950.  Together they raised three beloved children, Mark, Debra, and Denise. 

Walter enjoyed spending his free time gardening. He also liked to travel to Ireland as well as studying genealogy.  Walter had a love for animals.  He will be forever remembered for his kind heart and as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He will be forever missed by his son, Mark J. Laufhutte; daughters, Debra Levin (Dean) and Denise Laufhutte Pope; five grandchildren, Christopher Levin, Peter Levin, Jacquelyn Laufhutte, Joseph Laufhutte, and Brittany Pope; four great grandchildren, Lucas, Paige, Kayleigh and Jackson Levin.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Alice (nee Coffey) Laufhutte; parents, Walter Laufhutte Sr., and Anna (nee Coffey) Laufhutte and brother, Robert W. Laufhutte, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, February 23rd at 10:30 am, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 149 Grove Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Friends and relatives may greet the family from 10:00 am until the start of mass at 10:30 am, all services will be held at St. James Church in Woodbridge.
