Antoinette Rastetter

Obituary of Antoinette Rastetter

Antoinette Rastetter, age 90 of Hampton, NJ, passed away surrounded by her daughter on Friday, April 8, 2022, at her home.

Antoinette was the loving and devoted wife of the late John Rastetter. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on April 11, 2013.

She was born on June 6, 1931, in a home in Astoria, Queens, NY as Antoinette Giovanna Lusina, daughter of the late Michael and Jennie (Lettich) Lusina.

Antoinette grew up in Astoria surrounded by several generations of the family who all lived within walking distance. There her father would have a large garden where he always had way too much food so that he would share it with the whole neighborhood along with the wine that was made in their basement. She worked in a Beauty Parlor for a short time on the lower levels of the Empire State building but never made it to the observation deck since she was afraid of heights. Then she worked at Chase Bank for a short time. Before becoming a housewife and a loving Mom.

We have been blessed with the presence of Antoinette in our lives. She will be deeply missed but has now joined her loving husband, John in heaven. She will be deeply missed by her daughter: Elizabeth Scollon and her husband Edward of Hampton, NJ and the late Janet Abbattista and her husband Joseph of Calabash, NC. She was the loving grandmother to her three grandchildren: Jennie Perka and her husband Drew of Trinity, FL; William Scollon of Hampton, NJ; Joseph Abbattista III and his wife Dana of Chesapeake, VA who are the parents of great-granddaughter Olivia Marie and another great-grandchild due very soon.

She is predeceased by her sister: Marie Penso of Astoria, Queens, NY and a sister-in-law Dorothy Fransechi of Pacific Grove, CA. She is survived by 2 nephews: Henry DiRocco of Orange, CA and Michael Penso of West Islip, NY.
