Obituary of Robert Hunter

Robert “Bob” Hunter, 77, of Bethlehem Township, New Jersey passed away at his home on Saturday April 16, 2022. Bob was born on February 16, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to loving parents Harriet and Arthur Hunter. Bob graduated from South Plainfield High School in 1963 and following his graduation he joined the Navy. Bob served in the Navy from 1965 to 1970 including combat duty in the Dominican Civil War Intervention. Bob earned the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class before receiving an honorable discharge. Soon after his return home from service, Bob married the love of his life Dr. Alyce Hunter on December 19th, 1970. Together they raised five children Jay, Sean, Scott, Alyson, and Jessica. 

Bob worked for Weichert Financial Services as a mortgage broker for many years before he retired. Bob was a family man and loved to spend his days with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed traveling and cooking meals for the whole family. Bob enjoyed fishing with his children on their boat.  Most recently Bob had found enjoyment in studying his family’s genealogy and tracking down ancestors from many years past. 

Bob is survived by children Jay, Retired Gunnery Sergeant United States Marine Corps, (Kristen Larsen), Sean, Major Idaho Army National Guard, (Dawn), Scott (Lisa), Alyson Piorkowski (Joseph), and Jessica O’Neil (Brian). Bob also leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren Luke, Brooke, Jay, Alton, and Lorelai Hunter, Joseph and Aaron Piorkowski, and Adyson, Elizabeth, and Robert O’Neil.  Bob will be missed by Buck, his beloved Labrador Retriever, who laid by his side until his very last day.

Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, of 50 years, Alyce Hunter who entered into eternal rest on September 11th, 2021.

Friends and family are all welcomed to honor Bob on Sunday April 24th, 2022 with military honors starting promptly at 11am followed by a celebration of life at the Glen Gardner VFW Post #5119 located at 179 Main Street Glen Gardner, New Jersey 08826. Guests are invited to arrive after 10:30 am. ALL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT THE GLEN GARDNER VFW POST #5119. Arrangements are under the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clinton, NJ.
