Obituary of John R Porvaznik

John R. “Sonny” Porvaznik, age 86, of Frenchtown, NJ, formerly of Edison, NJ, passed away on November 8, 2022. Sonny was born on June 13, 1936, in Keasbey, NJ, to the late John and Anna Porvaznik.  

John was enlisted in the US Army from 1958 until 1960. He then went on to work as a forklift operator with Chesebrough-Pond’s in Perth Amboy until his retirement at the age of 55.  Sonny went on to enjoy life after retirement.  He could often be found betting on his favorite horses, watching his beloved MET’s or enjoying the quite of fishing.  

John will always be remembered by his family for his kind and gentle heart.

Sonny is survived by his loving sister, Margaret Rocca; nephew, Ronald J. Portz; niece, Jennifer Perna; nieces, Cynthia and Linda Midura and nephew Henry Midura. Also surviving are his great nephews Nicholas, Christian and Matthew Perna.

John was predeceased by his mom and dad and sister Dorothy Midura.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, November 11th at 11:00 am at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 2 Whitebridge Road, Pittstown NJ. Relatives and friends may greet Sonny’s family at the church starting at 10:00 am. Arrangements are under the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clinton NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sonny’s name may be made to the Saint Catherine of Siena Parish Center Building Fund.
