Obituary of George S. White

George S. White died peacefully on April 30th. He was the cherished husband of Marion Connell White for fifty-two years and devoted dad of Doug & his wife, Ronda and Thomas & his wife, Lily. His much loved grandchildren are Jack, Grace, Luke, Elena and Alex. George and Marion raised their family in Wayne, New Jersey. They lived in Clinton Township for sixteen years where they were parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church. Most recently he was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Pompton Plains since moving to Wanaque, NJ. After graduating from Seton Hall University, George entered the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. In 1999 George retired from Foster Wheeler Corporation having served as Vice President and Controller. He was a former president of the Passaic County Chapter of Certified Public Accountants and also had been a trustee of the NJ State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Since he retired, he has been a consumer advocate for the Members Appeals Board of Horizon Health Insurance in Newark, NJ. George enjoyed all sports and as a young man was a skilled athlete. He played basketball and baseball on both the high school and college level. George volunteered for several youth groups as a coach and also for the Junior Achievement Program as a career adviser. He was an avid golfer and a member of Fox Hollow Golf Club, Branchburg, NJ. His love of family was most important to him and he will be remembered for his generous spirit, happy nature and patient manner. The celebration of his life will take place at a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, May 4th at 10:30 am the Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ 08801 - #908-735-7319. Family & friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Wednesday morning. The Entombment with full military honors will take place at the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum on the church grounds immediately following the mass.
