Obituary of Harold J. Fischer

Harold J. Fischer, 88, of Belvidere, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday March 7, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on April 30, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY, and was the son of the late George and the late Anna (née Morreale) Fischer.

Harold married the love of his life, Jean Mallon on August 21, 1954.  He served in the US Navy for two years. While raising his family, Harold graduated from St. John's University with a degree in accounting. Harold worked his way up the corporate chain and earned the title of Vice President at Bankers Trust in Manhattan. After his retirement from banking, Harold went on to work for the County College of Morris as an internal auditor.

Harold had a real passion for history and genealogy; he was able to trace his family heritage back hundreds of years. He also enjoyed a good game of bocce ball and the serenity of fishing. Most of all Harold was a true family man who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Jean Fischer; daughters Laureen Martinko and her husband Ted, Jeanmarie McBride and her husband Mitch, Ann Powell and her husband Mark;  son, Daniel Fischer and his wife Marie; and daughter in law, Denise Fischer. Harold is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His sons Harold and John and grandson Ted predeceased him.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 12th from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 13th at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ 07823.
