Obituary of Edith P. Austin

Edith “Edie” Peach Austin, 88, of Hampton, New Jersey, formerly of Florham Park, New Jersey passed away peacefully at Hunterdon Medical Center on March 26th, 2023. Edith was born on February 7th, 1935 to the late Granville and Clara Peach in Summit, New Jersey. She graduated from Bayley Ellard High School in 1953 and went on to work at Automatic Switch Florham Park in the orders department from 1957 to 1964. She then went on to work at Varityper in East Hanover for over 20 years where she retired from as a Senior Analyst in 1997.

Edie was married to the late James N. Austin, who passed in October of 2007, for 45 years and together they raised their family and lived in Florham Park for 44 years before moving to Hampton in 2007. Edie loved her family and always provided them with a warm and compassionate home. Throughout her life Edie was a woman of faith and a devout Catholic and has been a parishioner at The Church of St. Ann in Hampton for the past 15 years. She was also a member of the Rosary Society at the Church.

In her spare time Edith enjoyed bowling and if you checked her scorecard rarely would you see an open frame. She also enjoyed taking care of her home and gardens and worked hard to maintain beautiful vegetable and flower beds. Edith was also a big fan of the New York Yankees and loved to sit back and watch her boys play ball.

Edie leaves behind a beloved daughter Eileen Kosakowski of Magnolia, Texas, daughter-in-law Jenny Austin-McAllister, loving granddaughters Farrah and Faye Austin of High Bridge, New Jersey, a very special nephew Brian Peach and a wonderful friend Catherine Fellin.

Edith is predeceased by her husband James N. Austin, two loving sons Jeffery and James, three brothers; Bernard Peach of Schooley’s Mountain, Jerome Peach of Chester, and her beloved brother Granville Peach of Randolph.
