Obituary of Josephine Hardardt

On Friday, May 12, 2023, Josephine (Miserendino) Hardardt, 91, passed away peacefully at her residence in Easton, Pennsylvania. Josephine was born on August 22, 1931, in Newark, New Jersey.  She was the eldest of four children born to Vincent and Germaine (Musto) Miserendino and enjoyed a close relationship with her loving family.

Josephine was raised in Newark and graduated from Weequahic High School in 1949.  She married her beloved husband, the late Arthur Joseph Hardardt, on May 22, 1954. Together they raised three children, Susan, Arthur Jr., and Steven.  Arthur and Josephine were blessed with 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Family was everything to Josephine, and she showed her love through frequently hosting and visiting family members, cooking, and attending dance recitals, concerts, sporting and academic events. 

Josephine worked for many years as an administrative assistant at the business office, for the Roselle Park Board of Education. She was a devout Roman Catholic and throughout her life was a member of the parishes of Blessed Sacrament in Newark, Church of the Assumption in Roselle Park, and St. Luke’s of Toms River.  Josephine was an active church volunteer who served as a Eucharistic Minister and Rosary Society Officer.  In addition to her church volunteer work, Josephine also served as a volunteer for ARC, Little League, PTA and the Shenandoah Commons Homeowners Association.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Susan Reynolds and her husband Robert of Clinton, N.J., her son Arthur J. Hardardt and his wife Lynn of Upper Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania, and her son Steven R. Hardardt and his wife Nancy of Marco Island, Florida. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Arthur J. Hardardt Sr., parents Vincent and Germaine Miserendino, and by her brother Thomas Miserendino.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10AM on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Saint Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 2 White Bridge Road, Pittstown, N.J. 08867. Interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park Mausoleum located at 1621 Stuyvesant Avenue, Union, N.J. 07083.
