Obituary of Margaret Ellen Wendelken

Margaret Ellen "Maggie" (nee Maroney) Wendelken, age 75, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, formerly of Hoboken, NJ, peacefully passed away with her beloved family by her side, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Hunterdon Medical Center. Maggie was born on January 31, 1948, in Hoboken, NJ, to the late Patrick Joseph Maroney and the late Mary Dorothy (nee Broderick) Maroney.

Maggie was a graduate of Hoboken High School and married the love of her life, Robert “Bob”.  Together they raised two daughters, Keri and Lori, whom they adored. Before retiring, Maggie worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Business Administrator at the Hoboken Board of Education for over 25 years.  

Maggie volunteered her time at Hudson Cradle, and also was a devoted supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. She loved to knit, crochet, and read. She always had her knitting bag and her Nook with her. She also spent time rooting for her favorite teams, the New York Yankees and Giants. Most of all, Maggie loved spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren, who gave her profound joy.

Maggie will forever be missed by her beloved husband, Robert Joseph Wendelken; daughters, Keri Patricia Riccardi and Lori Ann Jentsch and her husband Bill; her grandchildren, Emma, John, Joseph, and Nina Riccardi, and Billy and Danny Jentsch; her brothers, Patrick Maroney and his wife Patricia, John Maroney and his wife Loretta; and many loving nieces and nephews.
