Obituary of Ruth M. Paulus

Ruth M. (nee Krohn) Paulus, age 85, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 14, 2023. Born April 16, 1938, in Somerville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Henry Krohn and the late Louise Krohn.

Ruth grew up in Annandale, NJ. She moved to Washington, NJ in 1957 after she married the love of her life, Dale N. Paulus. Together they raised three children; Dale, Ruthann, and Lynn, who they adored.  During her children's younger years, Ruth was a homemaker as well as a bookkeeper for Dale's gas station, Paulus Texaco. Later, she worked at Warren Hills Middle School cafeteria until retiring in 2012. Ruth and her family enjoyed trips to Ocean City, NJ, where they made many precious memories.

Ruth was the kindest and most gentle person, who enjoyed nothing more than being with her family. She was affectionately known as "Grammy" to her eight grandchildren and "Gigi" to her eleven great-grandchildren. When Ruth spent time with them, her eyes would light up, and she would have a smile a mile long.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Dale Paulus (Carol), Ruthann Thorsen (Doug), and Lynn Gieger (Dave); eight grandchildren, Eric Paulus, Dale Paulus (Caitlin), Scott Paulus, Allison Faraone (Matt), Doug Thorsen (Marissa), Michael Thorsen, Kristy Gieger, and Ron Gieger; eleven great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Paulus, Grace Paulus, Alaina Faraone, Greyson Faraone, Mackenzie Faraone, Kyle Faraone, Avery Thorsen, Jared Thorsen, Kayden Thorsen, Tyler Gieger and Madison Miller; two brothers, George Krohn of Golden, CO, and William Krohn of Brewer, ME.

Ruth is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Louise Krohn; husband, Dale Paulus; and granddaughter-in-law, Kristin Thorsen.

Relatives and friends may gather on Wednesday, July 19th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. Words of remembrance will be offered at 12:00pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery on Cokesbury Road.
