I thought I posted this memory but don’t see it here, so I’ll try again. Gloria was 2 years older than me and so she was allowed to use the oven in their home. One day we decided to bake VANILLA DROP COOKIES, and Gloria assigned duties to my sister and
me. My job was to add the vanilla. But while waiting to do that we started horsing around and I forgot to do it! The cookies came out well enough BUT THEY DIDN’T TASTE ANYTHING LIKE VANILLA. So I guess what we actually made were “drop cookies”.
. Gloria was part of all the big and little events of our lives. We grew up together as next door neighbors, walked to school and church together, spent every day of our summers together & had a secret signal that would bring her to her side window & us to our driveway for face to face meetings. She was a best friend we could depend on & when we became adults and went our separate ways, we always kept in touch. She is unforgettable!❤️
The above photo was taken at my Mom and Dad’s 50th Wedding Anniversary Gala. Gloria was like family to us and her presence at this celebration was a MUST and added to the festivities!.
With heartfelt sympathy to the family of my dear growing up friend Gloria. It is impossible to remember my childhood without remembering her because we grew up next door to each other from earliest memory.Though distance has separated us for over four decades, Gloria was faithful to keep in touch with cards for many years until her illness prevented it. I will always remember her fondly, faithful as a friend and devoted to her family. It is a comfort to know she is safely home now in the presence of her Lord. May God’s peace comfort the family she left behind.
