Obituary of Rose F. Sodano
Rose F. Sodano, 95, of Washington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 26, 1928, in Lyndhurst, NJ.
Rose was a graduate of Lyndhurst High School, Class of 1945. She would marry the love of her life, Frank Sodano, on May 6, 1951. They were longtime residents of Belleville, NJ. Together they raised 2 daughters, Gail and Carole, who were the joys of their lives. Rose and Frank would spend nearly 70 years married, before his passing in 2020.
Rose worked as a junior accountant at Hoffman La Roche in Nutley, NJ, for many years while also being an indispensable partner to Frank at their jewelry store, J & R Jewelers, in Bloomfield, NJ.
Rose and her husband Frank were members of an UNO club, with whom they traveled the country and abroad and shared many years of friendship and laughter. She was her grandkid’s biggest fan, and attended many softball, soccer games, and dance recitals. Rose adored her 7 great grandchildren. Rose and her late husband were among the first residents of Hawk Pointe, where she resided for 20 years. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Church in Hampton, NJ.
Rose is survived by her two loving daughters, Gail Angioletti and her husband Anthony of Asbury, NJ, Carole Dalton and her husband Bill of Sparta, NJ; sister-in-law Rosemarie Giaquinto; grandchildren, Nicole and husband Nicolo, Maria and husband Brian, Billy and wife Carly, Katrina and husband Alex; great-grandchildren, Sofia, Amelia, Emily, Mario, Beau, Jack and Francesca; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. During her illness, she was lovingly cared for by her longtime aide, Althia Hyatt.
She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Rose (nee Ferri) Giaquinto; brothers, Philip and George Giaquinto; sister, Florence Schaefer; and husband, Frank Sodano.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at The Church of St. Ann, 6 Church Street, Hampton, NJ.
