Obituary of Emma L. Dowches

Emma L. Dowches, age 97, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida died Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Port Orange Nursing & Rehab Center in Port Orange, Florida. Emma was born July 18, 1914 in New York City, NY. She was the daughter of the late William and the late Jessie (nee Smith) Grube. She was a longtime resident of Glen Gardner, NJ and also resided in Lebanon, NJ before moving to New Smyrna Beach Florida a short time ago. She was employed by the High Bridge Dress Factory where she worked for many years before retiring. Emma was also a foster grandparent at the Hunterdon Developmental Center for 25 years. She loved flowers and provided flowers for the Methodist Church in Glen Gardner, NJ for many years. She is survived by her daughters; Patricia Pickeral of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. & Roberta Mauro of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and her sons, Ronald Haines of Bridgewater, NJ & Robert David Haines of Bangor, Pa. Additional survivors include; her 10 grandchildren, her 12 great grandchildren, her brother, Elmer Grube of Flemington, NJ and her sister, Wilma Temple of Washington State. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Robert Haines in 1970 and pre-deceased by her second husband, Peter Dowches in 1991. The Visitation will take place on Friday, August 19th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Service on Saturday, August 20 at 2:00 pm (time is tentative) also at the Funeral Home with the Rev. William Spangler officiating. The Interment will be immediately following at the Spruce Run Cemetery in Lebanon Township, NJ.
