Obituary of Helen Ann Resua
Helen Ann Resua (O’Connor), age 85, of Annandale, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 4, 1938, in Rockaway Beach, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Vint) O’Connor.
Helen graduated as valedictorian from Stella Maris High School in Queens, NY in 1956 and soon after, on June 30th, married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Joseph Wilhelm Resua. Together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, love, and family.
As a devout Catholic and active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale, NJ for 48 years, Helen served as Director of Religious Education, parish administrative secretary, and as a weekly lector.
Helen cherished the simple things in life: reading, doing crossword puzzles, quilting, painting, listening to music, and relaxing by the ocean. Her greatest joy was spending time with those she loved, especially at large family gatherings and at her “happy place”, Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph and their children, Joseph Resua (Joyce), Richard Resua, Nancy Resua, James Resua, Jeanne Dunham (Gerald), Eileen Radican, Michael Resua, Joanne Panico (John), and Beth Proudfoot (Kevin); their grandchildren, Julie Resua, Kathleen Robinson (Tielor), Kimberly Tomeny (Ted), Richard DeFina, Grace Johnston (Andrew), Jacob and Julian Dunham, Matthew, Kathleen and Emily Radican, John, Christian, and Erica Panico, and Jackson, Samuel, and Katherine Proudfoot; their great-grandchildren, Hunter, Logan, and Zoey Robinson, and Connor and Katherine Tomeny; her sister, Joan Klein, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Family and friends may visit with Helen’s family on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 NJ-31, Clinton, NJ 08809. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ 08801.
