Obituary of Rhoda Hamilton
Rhoda Hamilton, age 96, of Pattenburg, NJ (Union Twp.) died Monday, April 8 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ. Rhoda was born April 6, 1928, in Manhattan, NY, to Murray Richard and Lillian (Solomon) Richard.
Rhoda dedicated her career to helping others. She graduated from the Easton School of Nursing in 1950 as an RN and admitted the first surgical patient at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. She went on to work as a private duty nurse for many years at Union Forge Nursing Home until retirement. She enjoyed many road trips with her husband, daughters, and friends in their truck camper. She also traveled extensively including to Ireland, Alaska, and the Panama Canal.
She was an avid crocheter, often giving the blankets she made to friends and family. In her later years, she enjoyed attending senior citizen meetings, phone calls with friends, going for long walks, and watching the numerous birds on her feeders. She kept detailed journals, or “daybooks” as she called them, logging the daily activities of her neighborhood.
Rhoda is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William “Bill” Hamilton and survived by her two daughters, Heidi Hamilton and Mindi Liebermann, her son-in-law John Liebermann, her granddaughters, Breann Boyle and Kelli Liebermann, and her grandson-in-law, Owen Boyle.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 20th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. Funeral service will start at 12:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Bloomsbury Cemetery.
