Obituary of Mary Stout Runyon

Mary S. Runyon, of High Bridge, NJ, passed away on April 9th, 2024, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington NJ.  She was 86.

Mary was born in Fairmount, NJ and spent most of her childhood in the Oldwick area. Mary married William Runyon of Clinton, NJ in 1958. Mary and Bill would raise their family together until he passed away after a long illness in 1981.  She is survived by her two sons, Mark and Tom, both in New Jersey. Also her sister Judy in New Jersey and many nieces and nephews and longtime friend Terry Woods.

After her husband's death, Mary worked for the Hoechst Celanse Corporation in the QA lab for 14 years, retiring in 1998.  Mary enjoyed many happy years in retirement.  She worked for the High Bridge School system as a crossing guard, watching her kids grow to go to college and into adulthood.  She enjoyed photography, the occasional game of mini-golf, and loved reading American history.

Mary is remembered as a loving mother and friend.  She was also the mother of many pets throughout the years, including her beloved Pug, Winston.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 14, from 3:00 until 5:00pm, at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15th at 11:00am, in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Wene presiding.  Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery in Fairmount.
