Elizabeth Petrozelli

Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Petrozelli

Elizabeth Ann Petrozelli (Pierce), born May 3rd 1954, went home to the Lord on August 27th 2024.  Elizabeth is survived by her son Gerald Petrozelli and his wife, Charlene and her three grandchildren Pierce, Avery and Emery Petrozelli, and her brothers

Rob, Timothy, and Jeffrey Pierce.  She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Robert LaSage Pierce and Margaret Eloise Piece (Harris)

With family roots in Hunterdon County, NJ going back 200 years, Elizabeth was born in Flemington, NJ and grew up in Clinton. She spent her adult years in Pittstown and Pattenburg, NJ. She graduated from Phillipsburg Catholic High School in 1972 and later graduated from Rutgers University, in 1988, Magna Cum Laude, with her bachelor’s degree in English.

In 1972, she married Gerald B. Petrozelli at St. Joseph’s Church, High Bridge NJ , and later divorced in 2012.

As a child, she spent her summers going to the family cabin with her parents and brothers in East Holden, ME, on Holbrook Pond, and continued to cherish her time at camp up through this past June.  As a teenager, in the 60’s and 70’s,  Liz worked at Charlie’s Bootery in Clinton, NJ, and later went on to work as a travel agent where she had the opportunity to be touched by the Pope, then as a print broker and most recently as an office manager in Pluckemin, NJ for Hauspberg & Associates.  To Liz, these were not just jobs, she took great pride in her work and considered them an extension of family. She also gave back to the community and served on the Union Township Board of Education.

Her love of family was evident in everything she did and her generosity was endless.  She spent weeks preparing for the holidays to host an annual Christmas gathering with a different theme at the family home each year, and with that tradition came her homemade candy, and personalized Christmas stockings that all the children in the family received every year, even as they became adults!

During sports season, Liz was found cheering on her grandchildren when they played and continued to support her son as he coached soccer and lacrosse, starting every game with “Let’s Go Nazareth”. She was known by fans throughout the Lehigh Valley, always a positive force for all teams.

When not spending time with her family, she was an avid reader and movie buff.  She belonged to a walking club and was always on the dance floor during family gatherings. She continued to spend time each summer in Maine with her lifetime friends there.

To so many more than just her family she was Liz, Gramma Liz and G Lizzie. She touched so many and will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
