Obituary of Robert Winseman Schmid
Robert Winseman Schmid, age 85, of Kingwood Twp, NJ passed away December 26, 2024 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Somerville NJ, September 8, 1939, he was the son of Frederick and Alberta Schmid. He resided in Pittstown, NJ and Kingwood Twp. for most of his life.
He was a 1957 graduate of Somerville High School and Brown University in 1961. He was also a U.S. Army reservist.
He worked at First National Bank of Central Jersey then UltraBank for most of his career in the loan department and then head of marketing. He was treasurer of Diehl’s Jewelers in Bernardsville, NJ and the tax assessor for Franklin Twp in Pittstown, NJ where he also served on the township planning board.
He was involved in the Somerville Rotary Club and the Jaycees holding positions of treasurer and president and volunteered at the Red Cross.
He enjoyed life and loved spending time with his family, gardening, sports, reading about history, and traveling.
He was predeceased by his older brother Fredrick Schmid, Jr., and his wife of 30 years Nora Diehl Schmid who passed away in 1994.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Elizabeth Marx Schmid of Kingwood Twp, NJ; four sons and their spouses, Kristin (Heidi), Jeremy (Kristyn), Trevor (Tara) and Aron (Katie) Schmid, three grandchildren: Matthew, Ian, and Zoe; nephew Andrew Schmid and niece Kathryn Smith.
