Obituary of Joseph X. Savarese
Joseph X. Savarese, age 85, of Belvidere NJ passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township, NJ. Mr. Savarese was born in 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late Salvatore and the late Maude Savarese. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Houston during WWII.
Mr. Savarese resided in Toms River, NJ for many years before moving to Belvidere two years ago. He worked a diesel mechanic for Mack Trucks In Hillside, NJ and also worked for George Harms Construction In Farmingdale, NJ.
He was a member of the Ocean County Modelers R/C Club. His hobbies included woodworking and ham radios. Mr. Savarese also played the harmonica and he participated in harmonica bands in both Union and Ocean County. In his younger years, he had a pilot's license and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his dear son, Gary Savarese and his wife Kathi of Clinton, NJ; his two grandsons, Scott and Kyle; his brothers James and Lester "Buddy" Savarese. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy, his 3 sisters and brother.
Visitation will be on Monday February 6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Martin Funeral Home,1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Catholic Blessing on Monday afternoon at 3:30pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 7th at 1:00pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
