Obituary of Arthur August Kraeuter
Arthur August Kraeuter, 92, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away in the early hours of Friday June 8, 2012.
He was born to the late Louis M. Kraeuter and Caroline P. Kraeuter on April 13, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY. Having moved to Hunterdon County, NJ, Arthur attended the one-room schoolhouse in Pattenburg, NJ and graduated from Clinton High School. He married Inez Pearle Smithers on July 13, 1941 and together they stayed for 54 years.
Arthur was a Veteran of Foreign Wars having fought in WWII as a member of the US Army. He was a longstanding volunteer and held many offices including that of Fire Chief of the Clinton Fire Department, a member of the Pattenburg VFW, and a member of the International Order of Oddfellows. Later in life he became a member of the Musconetcong Valley Presbyterian Church of Hampton, NJ.
Through the years he worked as a tax collector for the Town of Clinton, Worline's Oil Co., Poniatowski Bros/Case Equipment Co., and Flemington-based Rexham Plastics before retiring to Bethlehem Twp., PA with Pearle. He had been a long-time resident at Country Meadows Assisted Living Home in Bethlehem Twp., PA.
A dedicated and loving father, he is survived by his five children: Ruth Gronsky, Hampton, NJ, Carol Jancar, Ridgway, CO, Lewis Kraeuter, Cleveland, NY, James Kraeuter, Mansfield, TX and Robert Kraeuter, Vineland, NJ. He was a proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service held at the Clinton Fire Department, Friday, June 22nd at 11:45 AM.
