Obituary of Laurence E. Brydia
Laurence E. Brydia, age 79, of Clinton Twp., NJ died Friday, August 16, 2013 at Country Arch Care Center of Union Twp., NJ surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Brydia was born May 1, 1934 in Utica, NY. He was the son of the late Ellis and Mabel (Herpy) Brydia.
He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1953 as a radio operator in Japan during the Korean War. He graduated Elizabethtown College and went to the University of Delaware for graduate studies and in 1964 graduated with a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Analytical Chemistry. Laurence was a PhD Analytical Chemist at the Union Carbide Corporation in Bound Brook, NJ where he worked for 34 years before retiring. He resided in Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 44 years and he was an active member of the Flemington Baptist Church in Flemington, NJ.
Laurence was an avid sports fan; he was particularly fond of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers. He will be remembered as a "wonderful" man who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed family vacations to Florida, Texas, Cape Cod, New Hampshire, Vermont, the Poconos, North Carolina and Puerto Rico but his favorite location was Bethany Beach, Delaware.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Alice (Weiss) Brydia, his daughter: Dawn Augustine & her husband, William of Frenchtown, NJ and his son, Robert Brydia and his wife, Justine of Bryan, Texas. Additional survivors include his cherished grandchildren, Keith & Ryan and his brother, William Brydia of New Port Richie, Fla.
Laurence's life celebration will include visitation on Monday, August 19th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, August 20th at 10:30 am at the Flemington Baptist Church, 170 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Family & Friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Tuesday morning. The interment will immediately follow the service on Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Clinton Twp, NJ.
