Obituary of Helen I. Glazar
Helen I. Glazar, age 99, of Edison, NJ died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park. Helen was born March 29, 1914 in Jersey City, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Boleslaus and the late Antoinette (Sawicki) Zylinski.
She grew up in Newark, NJ, lived in Irvington, NJ and Holiday City Toms River, NJ before moving to Edison, NJ a few years ago. She was a cafeteria worker for Bell Telephone in Newark, NJ for many years before retiring. Helen loved to sew, she belonged to the Holliday City Theater and Drama clubs where she performed in many plays and musicals. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grand children and traveling.
Helen is survived her son, Major General Paul J. Glazar (ret) & his wife, Lynn Glazar of Summerville, SC, her cherished grandchildren; Jennifer Glaser of Bethlehem Twp., NJ, Gregory Glazar of Bethlehem Twp., NJ, Robin Busch, of Clinton Twp., NJ, Barbara Pestritto of Michigan and Michael Fix of Texas. Additional survivors include her sister , Wanda Sicilano of Deal NJ and 16 great great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Janet Glazar Fix, and survived by Janet's husband, Charles Fix of Texas. Helen was also pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Joseph in 2006 and her brothers & sister: Joseph Zylinski, William Zylinski , Thelma Matthews and Edward Zylinski.
The visitation will take place on Friday, August 30th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral service at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 30th also at the Funeral Home. The Interment will be held privately at the Gate Of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
