Obituary of Herbert G. Deemer

Herbert G. Deemer, age 87, of the Pattenburg section of Union Twp., NJ died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. Mr. Deemer was born August 28, 1925 in Bloomsbury, NJ. He was the son of the late George and the late Edna (Miller) Deemer. He was a longtime resident of the Pattenburg Section of Union Twp., NJ. Herbert was a Foreman with the NJ DOT and worked out of the Clinton, NJ yard for 32 years. He also worked for the Warren County Highway Department. Herbert proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was in 5 major battles and received 3 gold stars. He enjoyed cutting his grass, tending his wood stove, watching NASCAR and driving his Ford pick-up truck. Most importantly he loved to spend time with his devoted family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen (Jansen) Deemer, his daughters; Nora Deemer of Pattenburg, NJ and Frances Wise of Phillipsburg, NJ, his sister, Darlene Cathers of Phillipsburg, NJ and his brothers; Donald Deemer of Phillipsburg, NJ, Frank Deemer of Harmony, NJ, and George Deemer of Phillipsburg, NJ. Additional survivors include his cherished grandchildren; Herb, Shane, Jackie and Melinda and his great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Tacy and Lily. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Julia in 1977, his daughter, Rose Ann Ellis in 2008, and 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Herbert's Life Celebration will include visitation on Saturday, August 31st from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral service at 1:00 pm on Saturday also at the funeral home. The interment will immediately follow at the Greenwich Cemetery in Stewartsville, NJ.
