Obituary of Barbara Schantz

Barbara Picone Schantz April 5 1943 – May 19 2015 The children of Barbara sadly announce that our mother has passed away peacefully in her sleep after a short illness. She had just turned 72. She was the wife of the late Albert Lou Schantz Jr. She was the daughter of the late Robert Picone and Mary Poch Picone. She graduated in 1961 from North Hunterdon Regional High School where she met our father. They were high school sweethearts who were married from November 1962 until his death in March 2005. She resided in High Bridge for 40 years where she was the owner of Barbara's Country Salon. After closing her business, she worked part-time with custom fabric design for the last 10 years of her life. She leaves behind her son, Gary Schantz and his wife, Jean of Whitehall, PA; her daughter, April Schantz Olexson and her husband, Eugene of Neshanic Station, NJ. She was the proud grandmother of Sophia and Isabella Olexson as well as Albert Schantz III. Although, she will be missed by her children, grandchildren and many family members of whom she was closed to, as well as her life-long friends, we are comforted to know that she is now at peace. A memorial service will be held at the Martin Funeral Home 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809, on Saturday, June 6 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm.
