Obituary of Ernest L. Race

Ernest L. Race, age 85, of Lebanon Township, NJ died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ. Ernest was born February 3, 1930 in Scranton, PA. He was the son of the late George and the late Lillian (Hutchins) Race. He was in the US Army stationed in Korea and was a long time member of the Lebanon Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as past Chief. Ernest was predeceased by his wife Lillian (Watkins) Race in 1999, grandson Leo Di Pasquale and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by three daughters: Marie Cryan and her husband Bernie of Lebanon Township, NJ, Susan Zander and her husband Albert of Readsboro, VT, Mary Ellen Hockenbury and her husband Judd of Lebanon Township, NJ. His sister Susan Major and her husband John, of Dalton, PA and his brother Alfred Race of Scranton, PA. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, Kathleen Jordan and her husband Gary, of Bloomsbury, NJ, Bernard Cryan III and his wife Colleen, of Lebanon Twp. NJ, Albert Zander, of Burlington, VT, Arthur Zander, of Readsboro, VT, Jamie Booth and her husband David of Pohatcong Twp. NJ, Jennifer Hockenbury, of Lebanon Twp. NJ and Judd HockenburyIV, of Lebanon Twp. NJ. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Daniel and Joshua Jordan, of Bloomsbury, NJ, Hunter and Travis Cryan, of Lebanon Twp. NJ, Koalbie and Kayden Booth, of Pohatcong Twp. NJ. The Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 27th from 5:30pm to 9:00pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 28 at the Funeral Home. The Interment will follow at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Clinton Township, NJ.
