Obituary of Lenore Ann Samela

Lenore Ann Samela, age 89, of Annandale, NJ died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. Lenore was born March 25,1926 in Scranton, PA. and was the daughter of the late John J and Rose Marie (Pane) Gentile. Lenore is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Altamura and her husband Arthur of Bethlehem, PA and her son Robert Samela and his wife Susan of Washington, N.J. She is the loving grandmother to Michael Cuccio, Christina Santos and her husband Sergio, Daniel Cuccio, Jennifer Bremmer and her husband Daniel, Matthew Samela, Danielle Samela, Andrew Samela, and great grandmother to Jordan Cuccio, Cameron Cuccio and Brendon Bremmer. Lenore was predeceased by her husband Vito in 1985 and her siblings Jean-Ann Gentile, Alice Bakie, Joseph Gentile, Sr., Angela Kirwan and her grandson, Anthony Cuccio. Lenore lived in Dunmore, Pa for about 30 years before moving to Teaneck, NJ. In 1987 she left Teaneck and came to Annandale, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Lenore worked for many retail companies over the course of her life and at age 80 retired from Hesco Lighting. Being a devoted parishioner. Lenore always was an active participant in the church community particularly in the Altar Rosary Society. She served in this Society for over 50 years and because of her dedication, she was recognized and honored by the Church.. Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31. Clinton, N.J. 08809 on Monday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Old Allerton Road, Annandale, N.J. The family will gather at the church the morning of the funeral. Entombment will be held on Wednesday at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, PA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Immaculate Conception Altar Rosary Society and be mailed to the church at 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ 08801.
