Obituary of Paul L. Dunklee
Captain Paul Louis Dunklee of Glen Gardner, New Jersey passed away
peacefully on July 8, at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
He was born March 18, 1927 in Portland, Oregon, and moved to Providence,
Rhode Island. in 1931 with sisters Selah, Shirley, twin Patricia and brother Jack.
Paul graduated from St. Dunstan's Episcopal School and Hope Senior High
before joining the Army Air Corps during WWII. His military assignments
included a 9 month tour with the Berlin Air Lift out of Frankfurt, and Rein Main,
Germany.
Following his discharge in 1951 he joined Eastern Air Lines in 1953 as a flight
attendant, becoming a line pilot soon after and then retired as a 30 year Captain in
1989. His usual routine when reporting for a trip was to present the flight
attendants with a flower for their uniforms to say "Thanks" for the jobs they
would do. He became known as the "Flower Captain". Paul was a long-time
resident of the Glen Gardner area enjoying the scenic beauty and quiet life
of Western New Jersey.
Paul is survived by his younger brother, Jack Dunklee of Reno, NV and many
nieces and nephews across the country.
