Obituary of Charles A. Mastro
Charles A. Mastro, age 95, of Alexandria Twp., NJ died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Mastro was born May 1, 1918 in White Plains, NY. He was the son of the late Michael and the late Mary (Lamattina) Mastrogiacomo.
He resided in Glen Gardner, NJ and Flemington, NJ before moving to Alexandria Twp., NJ 13 years ago. Charlie was a proud World War II Veteran and a retired United States Army Major who served his country for more than 25 years. He was an administrator for the Army Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps in NYC where he retired after many years.
Charlie was an active member of the Gem Vac Veterans in Glen Gardener, NJ where he could be found most days spending time with his fellow veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Glen Gardner, NJ. He was a military history buff and was known for being very handy around the house.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Michele Mastro & her life partner, Eileen Lynch of Alexandria Twp., NJ and his cherished grandchildren, Emma & Tucker. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Connie in 2000.
Charles's Life Celebration will include visitation on Wednesday, September 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral mass on Thursday, September 19th at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena's Parish Center, 142 Perryville Road, Hampton, NJ. Full military honors will take place at the parish center immediately following the mass on Thursday. Family & friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Thursday morning. The interment will be held privately at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
