Obituary of Jeanne Lois Reynolds

Jeanne Lois (Yurasek) Reynolds, 94, of Annandale, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her daughter's home in Belle Haven, Va., with her family by her side. She was born May 1, 1922 in Staten Island, NY to Andrew Dominic Yurasek and Anna (Koch) Yurasek. The family moved to Clinton in 1930 and started a chicken farm at the beginning of the Great Depression. She attended Pace Institute in New York. She was a yeoman first class in the United States Navy Reserve during World War II; she worked in a Naval Post Office in New York and was also stationed in Hawaii. She was especially proud of her Navy service and regarded those years as some of the best of her life. She married John Patrick Reynolds Sr. in 1952. She was an avid cat lover, enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, needlepoint, and making visits to Atlantic City and the Napa Valley wine country. She frequently challenged her children and grandchildren to marathon Scrabble competitions. She was a strong woman and a force to be reckoned with (ask any of her sons…), and urged her children and grandchildren on to do great things in their lives. Reynolds was predeceased by her husband in 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Roll and husband Walter of Belle Haven; sons John Patrick Reynolds Jr. and wife Susan of Newburyport, Mass., Jeffrey Reynolds and wife Linda of Oceanside, Calif., Joseph Reynolds Sr. of Annandale, David Reynolds and wife Danette of Fremont, Calif., and Lawrence Reynolds and wife Betsy of Easton, Pa.; grandchildren Joseph and wife Nancy, John Patrick III, Christopher, Caitlin and husband Ross, Erin, Robert, David and Kelsey. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Chloe. Arrangements were by Williams Funeral Home, Parksley, Va., and Martin Funeral Home, Clinton NJ. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday July 25, 2016, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday July 26 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale NJ.
