Greg and I went to school together - Kindergarten through 6th Grade (1st thru 6th at Our Lady of Mount Virgin in Middlesex) after which my family relocated to Illinois. Greg and his brother Don, my brother Gerald and I had some fun during those years. Most especially when Greg and I put together a puppet show "Hansel and Gretel" one summer. Greg and I made the puppets, scenery and even charged neighborhood kids a nickel to see it. We did the voices for the characters, of course, and Greg created a rather memorable witch with one heckuva funny "personality"! I still recall him doing an "after the show" routine with the witch character where he talked about how the witch loved "fricasseed kids". What a fun and creative guy! My condolences to you all.

Dear Lord....
Grant eternal rest unto your faithful servant....A man who selflessly served his brothers and sisters without reservation or fear of death. If a man is measured by the display of love at his passing, then Greg truly made a mark in this world. I know he will be remembered for his easy smile and great laugh. Heavenly Father...wrap your loving arms around those who mourn him, may they find peace in the knowledge that he now rests in the Fathers house, for he so loved his family and friends. Bye Bye American Pie....you will not be forgotten.

I can't find the words to express my sincere sympathy to you all during this very sad time of life. So I will express myself to you with many hugs, a listening ear and much prayer! Please know that I am and always will remain there for you when ever needed. Greg was a great man in many ways but most of all I loved him for the times he was there when my family needed a friend to talk to. No doubt we will still continue to communicate with him through the spiritual unknown. We love you all very very much and it will get easier. As pop once told me, "life is always changing and in the end we will meet again." XOX

In my six years with FEMA, Greg has been my mentor and the one I looked to for knowledge and guidance. He always either knew the answer or sought the answer out and provided it to me. He was the face of the Disaster Security Operations Cadre and I will always remember him while at FEMA. On deployments he was witty and always found a way to put fun in the job and bringing everyone together as a team. He was the best cook, had the best story's and the best training aids. Who in training will ever forget his Three Stooges videos and jokes. He talked about his family times, his wife Donna, son and daughter and the times they went camping, and he always looked forward to the family times.
Greg, though no longer with us and going to a better place, will be missed.
I still can't believe he is gone as we were both instructors at a FEMA training just three weeks ago.
My sincere condolences are with his family inn this time of grief.

When I put a face to the Security Cadre, Greg will always be that person. As busy as he always seemed to be, he always took the time to help one of his fellow cadre members. He was an instructor at my orientation class when I joined the cadre and someone I went to for help over the years. The man had the patience of a saint.
My thoughts and prayers for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

It's been two days and I still don't know what words to say to help the Sharkey family because maybe there are no words. As I am sure your family is heavy in grief, I am still equally shocked at your loss. Greg was not only my friend but a mentor for me on the Police Department and joining him in FEMA work. It was always about helping others in his life whether it was family or professionally. Greg loved his family and always talked about getting home to them during our deployments in FEMA. To Donna and Greg's children, we have lost a great one but heaven has gained his talents. I talked with Greg often and will miss him putting up with my questions. I will miss my friend and will think of him often. God Bless the Sharkey family !!

We have only known Greg for a few short years as neighbors. Time enough to know a good man with a quiet smile, a helping heart and willing hands. Our deepest sympathies go out to Donna, Michael and Kim. The entire Sharkey family can be very proud of the man that he was. May the angels carry him into heaven. God bless Greg and farewell.

Dear Donna, Kim and Mike,
We are so sorry for your loss. We met Greg, Donna and Kim at Carrie's graduation and though our interactions were brief, it was obvious that he lived a full life, taking advantage of all of the joys in life that came his way. These words do not do him justice, but please know that you're in our prayers and thoughts.

Dearest Donna, Mike, and Kim,
I was so saddened to hear of your loss. Greg's passing has left a great void on this earth. He was so friendly and compassionate, always making sure his family was well cared for, yet still having time and energy to give so much to others. I remember him so well working the food tent for our carnival.
Know that my prayers are with you and I am only a phone call away.
Love always,
Judy Francisco
