Obituary of Jose Belmar M.D.

Jose Belmar passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Morristown Medical Center, November 21, 2016. He is survived by his children, Marisa Belmar-Banerji and son-in law, Don Banerji, Carlos Belmar, MD and Dolores Belmar Rody and son-in-law, Orville Rody; 5 grandchildren, Christian, Adriana, Alaina, Matthew and James; his niece, Maricruz Catala. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Deanna Danick Belmar; son, Joseph Belmar; parents Mariana Furio Bensi and Jose Belmar Serrano. Jose grew up in Valencia, Spain, lived through the Spanish Civil War. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Valencia, Spain. He specialized in chest diseases and worked as a pulmonologist in a tuberculosis clinic prior to leaving Spain. He immigrated to the United States in 1954. He trained at several hospitals upon his arrival in US focused on anesthesiology. He retired in 1985. Jose is a loving father and grandfather who always put his children and family first. His legacy is his family. After losing his wife when his children were young, he dedicated his life to raising his children. Nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as compassionate and loving man. He is deeply loved and will be missed by all. Friends and relatives may gather on Tuesday November 22, 2016 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at 10:00am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Jose may be made through In Memory Of, for the St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD or to the Nancy and Skippy Weinstein Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Morristown Medical Center, at www.inmemoryof-memorial.org.
