Obituary of Richard L. Smith

Richard L. Smith, age 85, Lifelong High Bridge NJ resident died Monday, January 9, 2017 at Hunterdon Medical Center surrounded by his family. Richard was born June 6, 1931 in High Bridge, NJ. He is the son of the late Ervin and the late Hazel (Lake) Smith. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Richard was employed by North Hunterdon/Voorhees School District for many years before retiring. Prior to that he worked at Plessey Corp in Frenchtown NJ. He was a member of the High Bridge United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 0188 High Bridge and also an Exempt Member of the High Bridge Fire Department Surviving is his loving wife of fifty-five years : Elizabeth (Hornbaker) Smith, son Thomas L. and his partner Rob of Forks Twp; daughter Lisa MacDade and her husband Scott of Flemington; daughter Sheila Smith and her partner Mike of Washington Twp; two brothers Nelson of Kansas and Robert of North Carolina. Grandchildren; Lauren, Scott, Erin, Megan and Michael; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A funeral service will follow the visiting at 7:00pm at the funeral home. A private cremation will follow the services.
