For Danny, Kate, Beth, Danny Jr., and Michael,
I loved Kathy Dawson.
When we were children and gathered at Nanny's on those family Sundays,the cousins found themselves deep in play. It was a time of smelling delicious homemade cooking from three separate kitchens whether it be Polish perogies or Aunt Lucy's rice and beans. Uncle Frank would be smoking his pipe, much to our Nanny's disapproval, and Bootsy
would be stretched on the carpet awaiting her prerequite belly rubs. It was 1956, and television was God. Kathy and I and sometimes Christine would lovingly drag out our "little people" and set up the villages and situations to our hearts content. Eileen and Aunt Mae would bring the goodies into the basement to the gargantuan wooden dining table while Uncle Joe lit up a cigarette to whet his appetite. Life was good.
I shall always recall those glimpses into my childhood with deep affection for my family and remember the blonde girl laughing with her ponytail swinging high in the air while she tickled me relentlessly with utter satisfaction. I will miss her.
