Obituary of Peter Zimmermann
Peter Zimmermann, age 65, of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Hunterdon Medical Center. Mr. Zimmermann was born January 21, 1948 in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. He moved to Canada in 1961 and then to the US in 1964. He met his wife, Louise, in 1971 and they were married a year later in Irvington, NJ.
Peter has lived in Glen Gardner for the past 20 years and was formerly from Union, NJ. He worked for 42 years in the printing industry. He had many fond memories of friends he worked with at Rae Publishing in Cedar Grove and Toppan Printing in Somerset.
Pete was a true family man. Becoming a father and a grandfather were two of the most meaningful times in his life. He was so proud of his daughter, Dana, and loved his "son", Jose. But, nothing made him happier than hearing his sweet Isabella call him "Pop". He was a selfless, devoted and loving husband. His wife is grateful for the time they had together and will love him forever and ever.
He has been described as a "no-nonsense", "straightforward" guy. Even in death, he continues to show his generosity and caring nature, as he donated his organs and tissue to give life to others. He was a proud Life Member of the NRA and Easton Fish & Game Club. He was an avid target shooter. He enjoyed kayaking at Spruce Run Reservoir and most recently, skydiving.
Pete so loved his German Shepherds, Max and Matt. He treasured the many friendships he made throughout his lifetime. He will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years: Louise (Evers) Zimmermann, his devoted daughter: Dana Rodrigues and her husband, Jose, of Whitehouse Station, NJ; beloved granddaughter, Isabella; his sister, Irene Zimmermann, of Manahawkin, NJ, his nephew, Nick Totorello of Manahawkin, NJ and his niece, Heather DiDomenico of Flanders, NJ. He is predeceased by his parents, Mathias and Erna Zimmermann.
