Obituary of Douglas R. Van Camp

Douglas R. Van Camp, age 88, of Union Twp., NJ died Thursday, September 27, 2012 atCountry Arch Care Center in Union Twp., NJ. Mr. Van Camp was born May 17, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ. He was the son of the late Roscoe C. and the late Elma M. (Eberling) Van Camp. He was a long time resident of Union Twp., NJ. Douglas proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II where he was a radio operator and a gunner. Mr. Van Camp was a mechanic at Lipton Tea in Flemington, NJ for many years before retiring. He was a founding member and past Chief of the Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company. In additional, he was a longtime member of the Bushkill Valley Motorcycle Club in Easton, Pa. and a member of the B26 Marauder Historical Society. He enjoyed; motorcycle riding, participating in the club events; especially the Freemansburg Hill Climb. He also enjoyed going to Air shows, Hot air Balloon shows and photography. He is survived by his daughters; Eileen Kandl and Sharon Ford, his sons; Paul, Alan, and Douglas and his cherished grandchildren; David, Ben, Jon, Allison and Samantha. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anita in 1991, his son, Arthur in 1993, his brother, Roger and his sister, Jeanne. Douglas's Life Celebration will include a Visitation on Wednesday, October 3rd from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a Fireman's Prayer Service offered at 7:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Service at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 4th at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2 Race Street, Pittstown, NJ #908-735-5733. Family & friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Thursday morning. The Interment with full military honors will follow at the New Cemetery,192 South Bridge Street in Somerville, NJ.
