Mrs. McKenna & Family:
Words are difficult when describing a friend of so many years. Pete and I grew up together in Woodside, Queens but attended different schools. He was one of the best hitters on our neighborhood softball team, and we were members of the same rock group we formed in 1965. Pete played rhythm guitar and I was lead singer. The group broke up when 3 members (Tony Chiarel, Ray Gleason and I) joined the military. When we left the military in 1970, we got back together again, but never seemed to be ready for paid performances. We had exactly one paid gig before I left the group under pressure from my wife, Dale. Pete's parents were always friendly and open to me and his other friends. We lost contact when he moved from Woodside. I am in contact with some of his childhood friends and I will pass on this sad information.
I am very sorry for your loss and I will have him in my prayers from now on. God Bless you, Pete.

I am sorry for the death of your dear Mr. McKenna. The God of heavens shares your loss (Ezekiel 18:32). He promises to return him to life again (Hosea 13:14). He will be young and in perfect health (Job 33:25). Jesus taught us to pray for that wonderful future at Matthew 6:9-10. The free website, JW.ORG, has been my guide to Bible verses on comfort and hope over the years. It is my sincere wish that you will find it useful as well. My heartfelt condolences to all of you. Philippians 4:6-7. Psalm 37:11, 29.

Dear Meg
I worked with Pete for many years at MetLife. We both relocated from Long Island. Pete just recently asked me about life insurance benefits and getting together for lunch. I was traveling in Europe when I received a note on his passing.
We are shocked. Pete was good man. If there is a elevator to heaven he is on it.

To the family of Mr. Peter Daniel McKenna: I am so sorry for your sadness. It breaks our hearts when death separates us from our family members, but please be assured that Jehovah God promised to return those who die back to an earthly life. John 5:28-29, Isaiah 26:19, Acts 24:15. He also promised to eliminate death and sickness from the earth real soon. Revelation 21:3-4. May the hope in the resurrection comfort you during this difficult time.

A testament to Pete's life is the children he raised. Through Alison and Jeff, his presence while he was with us will live on and be enjoyed for many years to come.
Pete, I just hope you understood "my motivation". Now rest in peace.

Pete was a very good musician and a very kind man. Whenever we would meet, he was funny and always upbeat. I'll miss seeing him in church and hearing him play the guitar.

Pete was such a kind man. He played guitar for ICC for decades. We are broken-hearted to lose such a gentle person, generous with his time and with his talent. I don't ever remember coming away from a conversation with Pete without feeling a little happier than I was before we spoke. We will miss him tremendously. We send our love and condolences to Meg and all his family.

It's hard to believe that it has been 48 years since we met sitting next to each other in a programming class at MetLife. We became instant friends with similar senses of humor and a common interest in guitar. A year later Peter was my best man and he has always kept that status. My heartfelt condolences to the family. And Pete, hope you can play the harp.

Pete will remain one of the kindest men I have known in my lifetime. He was a faith-filled disciple of Christ ever ministering through his music. Though he will be missed deeply, he will be long remembered ever so fondly. My deepest condolences go out to Meg and the members of his extended family.

My sincerest sympathy to Pete's family. Pete and I passed each other in the parking lot every Sunday morning as he was coming and I was leaving Church. He was a fixture at 9:00 Mass and a talented musician. He will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Pete's passing. He was an enthusiastic member of our Guitar Jam Group at the Senior Center; always had something to contribute. He will be missed by us as I'm sure he will be missed by all his friends & family.
Rest in Peace my friend. You will not be forgotten.

I have no words suitable at this time of grief for Pete's family and friends. In my relatively short association with Pete, I grew very close to him personally and musically. If the loss I feel is even a hint at the loss you must feel, I can only pray that time and beautiful memories will moderate the grieving.

I had the privilege of playing guitar alongside Pete at Immaculate Conception Church (ICC). He always impressed me with his finger picking style on his Taylor guitar that he loved to play. He was able to play what professional musicians are paid to play.
I would often ask him, “Pete…how many hours did you spend working on that song? It sounded perfect!” His reply was always honest like “that one I did have to spend a lot of time on” or “only 3 hours on that song the other night”.
His absolutely best came out when Pete learn the picking pattern for the song “I Am the Bread of Life” by John Michael Talbot (listen to it on Youtube.com). What probably took John Michael Talbot hours of recording and over dubbing in a studio for the final recording of this great song, was played many times perfectly by Pete live at ICC.
You will be missed Pete but your life continues with the host of angels you will be joined with who bring song and praise to the throne of God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Your talent influenced my life and I am grateful to you for this!
