Who is Anna M. Bender to me… she was a cup of perfectly made hot (lovingly warm)cocoa made the right way on an electric stove with tap water heated in an old tea kettle that could barely whistle. She was a glass of milk and PB&J sandwich right before bed during sleepovers. Her hands were never idle with her chores, responsibilities and hobbies. She always found time to gladly tuck me in at night. She was my refuge during the dark times in my life and a treasure of wisdom. She is still the face I see when I use words like devotion, dedication, family, loyalty and love. She never yelled, cursed or said a mean word to me. She was my guardian angel, my friend, my confidant, my teacher, or more simply put…she is my Grand Mother.
I miss her immensely. This may seem foolish but I will think of her often when I make memories for my grand children. When I need comfort I will poor a glass of milk and make a PB&J sandwich because love is simple and never ending.
