Obituary of Arthur Lee Alexander

Arthur Alexander, 10/04/17--11/01/12. He died at age 95. Beloved father of Bonnie Uppal, New Delhi, Avis Alexander, New York and Melinda Eidson, Atlanta. Father in law of Tony Uppal and Paul Ehrlich. Grandfather of Krista Sachdev and Arjun Uppal, Jeremy and Ben Ehrlich, Jesse and Mandy Jane Eidson and great grandfather of Audrey Ehrlich. Father of Eric who died in May and Ross who died in 1982 and husband of Cynthia Jane, deceased in 1985. Also survived by his beloved companion, Deloris Kereluk. Arthur was an attorney in Washington and a retired magistrate. He worked at hosiery mills in NC to put himself through Duke University and Duke Law School. Arthur enlisted in the Navy prior to Pearl Harbor and became a lieutenant. He served on a battleship, the USS Elmore, in the South Pacific and was awarded the Bronze Star. Arthur practiced law in Washington, NJ for 55 years until retiring at age 89. He was the attorney for the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter for many years. Arthur was an active member of the Washington Kiwanis Club for over 50 years. Arthur loved his NY Mets, playing roll the bat with his kids, reading, building stonewalls and ponds at his beloved Flower Dale and dining with his friends and family. Memorial service will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3 Haytown Road, Lebanon, NJ 08833 at 10:30 am on November 17th. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for a Luncheon at the the Church immediately following the service. Donations may be given to Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter, 576 Stamets Road, Milford, NJ 08848. Arthur will be surely missed by his family, his many friends and appreciative clients, many of whom were pro bono.
