Obituary of John J. McCabe

John Joseph McCabe, age 65, of Hampton,NJ died Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ surrounded by his loving family. Mr. McCabe was born July 24, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late James Kenneth and the late Anna Mae (Warner) McCabe. He proudly served in the United States Marine Reserves from 1968 to 1976. He received bachelor's degree from Manhattan College in business administration. John resided in Hampton,NJ for the past 30 years and previous to that, he lived in Breezy Point, NY and Lake Ronkonkoma, NY. He was employed by Avaya Communications in Basking Ridge,NJ where he served as a director and retired after many years. In addition, John was also employed by Lucent, AT&T and New York Telephone. John was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Neumann Church in Califon,NJ and he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. John enjoyed fishing and traveling but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Eileen (Prosdocimi) McCabe, his daughter, Maureen McCabe Roberts & her husband, Michael and his son, Sean McCabe & his wife, Annie Chiu and his cherished grandchildren; Aidan, Katie and Sara Roberts. Additional survivors include his sisters; Rosemary Travis and Anne Marie Grozinger and his brother, James McCabe and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brothers; Kenneth and Kevin McCabe. John's Life Celebration will included a visitation on Wednesday, February 6th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral mass on Thursday, February 7th at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church (www.ccsjn.org),398 County Road 513, Califon, NJ. The entombment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
